I recently tried Fresh City Farms for the first time, a Toronto-based farm and e-grocer that delivers made-from-scratch organic meals and groceries for all types of eaters right to your door. Fresh City has two farms in Toronto and source directly from over 80 farmers and makers across Ontario. Customers can choose from fresh meals, produce, recipe kits, salad jars, smoothies and hundreds of groceries including artisanal bread, organic nuts, plant-based desserts and so much more.
Determined to make healthy eating effortless, Fresh City recently launched their new ready-to-eat Fresh Meals. You can choose from their Omnivore, Omnivore (Gluten Friendly), Veg, Pescatarian or DIY packages. I opted to try their Veg Meals, which included two chef-prepared, nutritionist-approved meals for two people. On the menu was a Kung Pao Stir-Fry and Makhani Tofu and Biryani that came vacuum sealed for freshness in glass jars. With everything all ready prepared, all I had to do was simply heat the meals and enjoy. It’s that simple. The Kung Pao Stir-Fry included tofu, brown rice spaghetti, cabbage, carrots, bell pepper, sesame oil, tamari, miso, sesame seeds and spices. This meal tasted incredibly fresh, as it popped with flavour and crunch, and I loved how fiber-rich it was. The Makhani Tofu and Biryani featured a mix of tofu, long grain white rice, cabbage, carrots, peas, cilantro, tomato, onion, coconut milk, cashews, and spices. This meal was a welcome comfort with its unique blend of spices and left me feeling completely satiated. Both meals had a balance of healthy fats, fiber and protein, and I appreciated that Fresh City includes the nutrition facts directly on the glass jars that the meals are served in. I was also totally surprised by how much food actually fits in each individual jar. The portion size is the perfect amount to leave you completely satisfied.
In addition to my Fresh Meals package, I also picked up a few staple items and treats from the Fresh City Market. I ordered a Village Juicery green juice, Earth and City cookies and crackers, GoGo Quinoa and Prana cashews and brazil nuts. It’s wonderful to see how supportive Fresh City Farms is of other local plant-based businesses including Village Juicery, Earth and City, Shockingly Healthy, Mighty Fine Brine, Good Food For Good, and Green Zebra Kitchen.
I loved my overall experience with Fresh City Farms and how effortless they made eating healthy, organic meals. I definitely recommend trying Fresh City Farms and am happy to offer you a first-timer coupon for $20 off your first order using the code FRESHREADER upon checkout. Enjoy!
