Mango, Berry and Spirulina Smoothies

I used to LOVE Cadbury Mini Eggs.  Maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for eating pretty food. With the long weekend coming, I wanted to create some healthier treats to enjoy and give an ode to my old favourite Easter treat. The result? I’ve created a Trio of Perfect Pastel Smoothies in Mango, Strawberry and Banana Spirulina. Personally, I find these smoothies sweet enough without adding additional natural sweeteners, such as dates, raw honey or maple syrup, but if you want a sweeter smoothie, simply add a touch of sweetener or use 1 full frozen banana instead of a half. You can also balance the sugars in the smoothies by adding some healthy fats, such as cashew butter or virgin coconut oil. I hope you enjoy them! 

Mango, Berry and Spirulina Pastel Smoothies
Serves 3
Enjoy these naturally sweet and pretty pastel smoothies. You will need a blender or high-speed blender to make these recipes.

Golden Mango Smoothie
  1. 1 cup nut milk or coconut milk
  2. 1/2 frozen banana
  3. 1/2 cup frozen mango
  4. Pinch of turmeric (add slowly until you achieve desired yellow)
  5. Optional add-ins: 1 tbsp cashew butter, 1 tsp virgin coconut oil, 1 tsp maca powder, 1 medjool date or 1 tsp raw honey
Pink Strawberry Smoothie
  1. 1 cup nut milk or coconut milk
  2. 1/2 frozen banana
  3. 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  4. Optional add-ins: 1 tbsp cashew butter, 1 tsp virgin coconut oil, 1 tsp maca powder, 1 medjool date or 1 tsp raw honey
Banana Spirulina Smoothie
  1. 1 cup nut milk or coconut milk
  2. 1 frozen banana
  3. 1/8 tsp spirulina powder (start by adding a pinch first and increase until you achieve desired blue/green colour)
  4. Optional add-ins: 1 tbsp cashew butter, 1 tsp virgin coconut oil, 1 tsp maca powder, 1 medjool date or 1 tsp raw honey
To make the Pastel Smoothies
  1. Make each of the smoothies separately in a blender or high-speed blender.
  2. Blend all smoothie ingredients on medium until smooth. Rinse and wash blender.
  3. Repeat until all three smoothies are made. Enjoy!
