I hope your 2016 is off to a great start! The new year offers a fresh start to revisit where you are today and what you hope to accomplish in the year ahead. There’s a lot of pressure to set “resolutions” but the word itself means to solve a problem or to firmly decide to do or not to do something. I don’t think we should approach the year as if we’re trying to solve a problem. We should embrace that we are not perfect but striving to do and be our best. We don’t need to beat ourselves up by setting strict resolutions that we won’t always be able to follow. Instead of resolutions, we should set intentions that include clear goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound (SMART).
