3 Viral Summer Recipes

But Make Them High-Protein

As seen on CHCH Morning Live  ·  June 2026

If you've been scrolling food content lately, you've seen them. Banana bark. Protein balls. Popsicles in every colour. They look incredible, the comments are full of "make this tonight", but most viral versions are basically frozen sugar in a pretty package.

This summer, Rawcology appeared on CHCH Morning Live to take all three of this season's most-shared recipes and make them actually functional. More protein, real superfoods, and clean ingredients — with Rawcology doing the heavy lifting. Same viral aesthetic. Way better fuel.

Every recipe is built around three nutrition pillars that matter right now: high-quality protein for muscle recovery and sustained energy; functional superfoods like maca and antioxidant-rich berries; and natural digestive enzymes from tropical fruit that help your body absorb every nutrient more effectively.

ABOUT RAWCOLOGY

Toronto-made and women-founded, Rawcology is one of Canada's most trusted organic snack brands. Certified organic, non-GMO, and made in a dedicated allergen-free facility. Low-temperature dehydration preserves enzymes and nutrients that conventional high-heat baking destroys. Available at Whole Foods, Loblaws, Metro, Costco, Bulk Barn, Sobeys, Healthy Planet, Farm Boy, and rawcology.com.

The Make-Ahead Plan

All three recipes can be prepped in one session — Sunday afternoon or the night before. Start with the popsicles (longest freeze time), then banana bark, then energy balls. Total active time is about 40 minutes. Everything else is hands-off freezing.

Banana bark: 10 min active  |  3–4 hrs freeze  |  Freezer life: 2 weeks

Energy balls: 20 min active + 20 min chill  |  Fridge life: 1 week  |  Freezer: 3 months

Protein popsicles: 10 min active  |  4–5 hrs freeze  |  Freezer life: 6 weeks

Why This Recipe Works

The banana bark trend took over every food feed this summer — and for good reason. It looks stunning, requires almost no effort, and the result tastes like a frozen dessert you'd pay for. Most viral versions stop at chocolate and banana. This one layers in Greek yogurt protein, maca adaptogen, and hemp hearts — turning a pretty trend into a genuinely functional frozen snack.

The secret to this recipe is the yogurt base. Plain Greek yogurt delivers 15–20g of protein per cup — making every shard a legitimate high-protein snack, not just a frozen treat. Rawcology Banana Grain-Free Granola adds satisfying crunch and maca root, a Peruvian adaptogen that supports sustained energy, adrenal function, and hormone health — one of the most researched functional foods available today.

Hemp hearts complete the picture: scattered invisibly across the bark, each tablespoon contributes all 9 essential amino acids and a dose of omega-3 fatty acids. Bananas provide natural potassium for muscle recovery — the electrolyte active bodies lose first in summer heat. No refined sugar, no artificial flavours, no allergens.

Nutrition Deep-Dive

Greek Yogurt

15–20g of protein per cup from a complete dairy protein source. Spread across 6–8 servings, every shard is delivering meaningful protein — making this a post-workout snack, not just a dessert.

Rawcology Banana Grain-Free Granola

Contains maca root — a Peruvian adaptogen used for thousands of years to support adrenal function, sustained energy, and hormonal balance. Grain-free, certified organic, low-temperature dehydrated to preserve enzymes. 4g net carbs per serving, keto and paleo-friendly.

Hemp Hearts

Every tablespoon contains all 9 essential amino acids, making hemp one of the only complete plant-based proteins. Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in the ideal 3:1 ratio for inflammation support.

Bananas

Natural source of potassium — the electrolyte most lost during summer activity and sweating. Supports muscle recovery, hydration, and nerve function. Natural sweetness means less added sugar needed in the yogurt base.

Full Recipe

Ingredients — Serves 6–8

Base

2 cups plain Greek yogurt or coconut Greek-style yogurt

3 tbsp natural almond butter or sunflower seed butter

2 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup

     1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Toppings

3 large ripe bananas, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds

1/2 cup Rawcology Banana Grain-Free Granola

     2 tbsp hemp hearts

2 tbsp dark chocolate chips or cacao nibs

Optional: extra drizzle of nut or seed butter across the top

Instructions

1.   Line a large baking sheet (approximately 13x18 inches) with parchment paper.

2.   In a bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, nut or seed butter, honey, and vanilla until completely smooth and well combined.

3.   Spread the yogurt mixture evenly across the parchment in a thin, even layer — approximately 1/4 inch thick. Use an offset spatula or the back of a spoon for an even surface.

4.   Arrange banana slices across the yogurt base in a single layer, slightly overlapping.

5.   Scatter Rawcology Banana Grain-Free Granola evenly across the surface — the granola adds crunch, maca's adaptogenic benefits, and a beautiful toasted texture.

6.   Sprinkle hemp hearts and chocolate chips or cacao nibs across the top.

7.   Drizzle extra nut or seed butter in thin lines across the surface if desired — this is the detail that photographs beautifully.

8.   Freeze 3–4 hours or overnight until completely solid. Remove and break into irregular shards. Serve straight from frozen.

Storage

Keep on the parchment-lined tray, covered, in the freezer up to 2 weeks. Break into shards only when serving. Bark shards in a zip bag or sealed container go from freezer to bag — they hold 30–45 minutes before softening.

Recipe 2 — High-Protein No-Bake Energy Balls

Why This Recipe Works

Energy balls are a classic for a reason — portable, satisfying, two bites and done. The viral versions tend to load up on oats and honey, which gives you quick energy but not much staying power. This version starts with Rawcology's Chocolate Grain-Free Granola — already built on sprouted seeds and raw cacao — then layers in plant-based protein powder and hemp hearts for 8–10g of real, sustained protein per ball.

The difference between this and a standard energy ball is in the base ingredient. Rawcology's Chocolate Granola is grain-free and made with sprouted pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Sprouting removes enzyme inhibitors and dramatically increases the bioavailability of zinc, magnesium, and plant-based iron — your body actually absorbs these minerals instead of passing them through. Most commercial granola doesn't come close.

Raw cacao adds one of nature's highest concentrations of antioxidants and supports natural serotonin production — the neurotransmitter behind mood, focus, and calm. Ground flaxseed contributes omega-3 fatty acids and lignans, plant compounds with anti-inflammatory properties. The result is a two-bite snack that works for everyone at the table regardless of dietary needs — grain-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, allergen-free.

Nutrition Deep-Dive

Rawcology Chocolate Grain-Free Granola

Sprouted pumpkin and sunflower seeds: sprouting removes enzyme inhibitors and dramatically increases mineral bioavailability. Raw cacao: one of the highest natural antioxidant sources, supports serotonin production. Low-temperature dehydrated to preserve enzyme activity.

Plant-Based Protein Powder

Approximately 20g protein per scoop. Combined with granola seeds, hemp hearts, and nut butter, each ball delivers 8–10g of complete, sustained protein. No dairy, no allergens.

Hemp Hearts

All 9 essential amino acids plus omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids in the ideal ratio. Two tablespoons woven invisibly through every batch — no flavour impact, significant nutritional lift.

Ground Flaxseed

Rich in plant-based omega-3 fatty acids (ALA) and lignans — plant compounds with established anti-inflammatory and hormone-supporting properties. Also adds fibre for digestive support and satiety.

Full Recipe

Ingredients — Makes 20 balls

1 cup Rawcology Chocolate Grain-Free Granola, lightly crushed

1/2 cup sunflower seed butter or almond butter

1/3 cup vanilla plant-based protein powder (approx. 20g protein per scoop)

3 tbsp raw honey or maple syrup

     3 tbsp ground flaxseed

     2 tbsp hemp hearts

     2 tbsp raw cacao powder

1 tsp vanilla extract  |  Pinch of pink Himalayan salt

2–3 tbsp unsweetened plant milk to bind if needed

Optional roll-in: extra cacao powder, crushed granola, or shredded coconut

Instructions

1.   Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl: crushed Rawcology Chocolate Grain-Free Granola, protein powder, flaxseed, hemp hearts, cacao powder, and salt. Mix well.

2.   Add sunflower seed butter, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla. Stir until a thick, cohesive dough forms. Add plant milk one tablespoon at a time if the mixture is too dry to hold together.

3.   Refrigerate dough 15–20 minutes — chilling makes rolling significantly easier and the balls hold their shape better.

4.   Roll into 1-inch balls between your palms. Work quickly — the warmth of your hands softens the dough fast.

5.   Optional: roll finished balls in cacao powder for a truffle finish, crushed granola for a crunchy shell, or shredded coconut for a lighter look.

6.   Place on a parchment-lined tray. Refrigerate 30 minutes until firm.

Storage

Airtight container in the fridge up to 1 week, or freeze up to 3 months. Balls go straight from fridge to any bag and hold at room temperature 4–5 hours. Freeze individually on a tray first, then transfer to a bag — thaw overnight.

Recipe 3 — Powered-Up Protein Popsicles

Featuring: Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters

12–15g

Protein each

8 popsicles

Makes

Why This Recipe Works

Popsicles are summer's most iconic treat — and one of the easiest things to upgrade at home. Store-bought versions are typically water, sugar, and food colouring. Even the "healthy" ones fall short on protein. These deliver 12–15g of protein per popsicle from a Greek yogurt and tropical fruit base, with Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters layered inside every mould so each bite has antioxidant-rich berry crunch woven through.

The fruit selection in this recipe is strategic, not just aesthetic. Mango and pineapple both contain powerful natural digestive enzymes — bromelain in pineapple and amylase in mango — that help the body break down and absorb protein more efficiently. You're not just eating protein; you're eating protein your body can actually use. The vibrant orange-yellow colour comes entirely from real fruit.

Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters add layers of real berry antioxidants and satisfying crunch inside every popsicle. Hemp hearts are woven through each mould, adding all 9 essential amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids. No artificial sweeteners, no refined sugar, no food colouring. The whole family gets the same treat with no exceptions.

Nutrition Deep-Dive

Greek Yogurt + Protein Powder

12–15g of protein per popsicle — making this a legitimate high-protein frozen treat, not a dessert masquerading as health food. Greek yogurt also contributes probiotics for gut health and calcium for bone density.

Mango + Pineapple — Natural Digestive Enzymes

Bromelain in pineapple and amylase in mango are natural digestive enzymes that help break down and absorb protein more efficiently. The fruit choice is strategic: it makes the protein in this popsicle more bioavailable. Also rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, and natural electrolytes.

Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters

Real berry antioxidants — anthocyanins from berries support cardiovascular health, reduce inflammation, and protect cells from oxidative stress. Oat cluster base adds slow-release carbohydrates and beta-glucan fibre. Layered inside each popsicle for crunch and functional nutrition in every bite.

Hemp Hearts

All 9 essential amino acids plus omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Complete plant-based protein woven invisibly into every popsicle. Two tablespoons across 8 moulds adds meaningful nutrition with zero impact on texture or flavour.

Full Recipe

Ingredients — Makes 8 popsicles

Blended Base

2 cups plain Greek-style yogurt or coconut yogurt

     1 cup frozen mango chunks

     1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks

1 scoop vanilla plant-based protein powder

2 tbsp maple syrup or raw honey

     1 tsp fresh lime juice

Layered Inside Each Mould

1/2 cup Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters, divided across 8 moulds

2 tbsp hemp hearts, divided across 8 moulds

Equipment

8-cavity popsicle mould + popsicle sticks (silicone moulds release most easily)

Instructions

1.   Add Greek yogurt, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, protein powder, maple syrup, and lime juice to a blender. Blend until completely smooth, about 45–60 seconds. The colour should be a vibrant orange-yellow — entirely from real fruit.

2.   Pour a first layer of blended mixture into each popsicle mould, filling approximately 1/3 full.

3.   Add a pinch of Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters and a small pinch of hemp hearts directly into each mould on top of the first layer.

4.   Pour a second layer of blended mixture to fill each mould to approximately 2/3 full.

5.   Add another pinch of Rawcology Berry Burst Oat Clusters and hemp hearts into each mould.

6.   Top with remaining blended mixture, filling each mould to just below the rim.

7.   Insert popsicle sticks. Freeze 4–5 hours or overnight until completely solid.

8.   To release: run warm water over the outside of the mould for 15–20 seconds, then pull gently. Patience here prevents broken popsicles.

Storage

Once released from moulds, wrap individually in parchment and store in a zip bag in the freezer up to 6 weeks. Wrapped popsicles go from freezer to bag — they hold 30–40 minutes before fully softening.
