5 Back to School Snacks That Will Save Your Week
Three Superhero Power Cookies + Banana Sushi + Watermelon Pizza
• As seen on Breakfast TV • Fall 2026

September hits and suddenly the pressure is real. The lunchboxes need filling, the after-school hunger is relentless, and the snack drawer that worked all summer suddenly feels completely uninspired.
We built Rawcology because we couldn't find what we were looking for, certified organic, allergen-free food that was genuinely nutritious and actually tasted good enough that kids would choose it. Between our founding team we have six kids, which means we have field-tested every snack format, every lunchbox combination, and every "will they actually eat this" scenario that exists.
These five recipes are our back-to-school answer. Each one is fast, genuinely nutritious, and has a real whole-food superfood hiding inside it — the kind of nutrition that supports focus, sustained energy, and a healthy gut through a full school day. Every recipe is allergen-free, nut-free, and completely school-safe.
Whether you need a Sunday batch-cook that covers the whole week, a five-minute lunchbox idea that looks like it took much longer, or a snack your kids will actually get excited about — you're in the right place.
Below you'll find five complete recipes with full ingredients, step-by-step instructions, nutrition notes, make-ahead guides, and lunchbox tips. Scroll to the bottom for the Sunday prep plan that batches all five in under an hour.

WHY THESE FIVE RECIPES • Sustained energy — no sugar spike, no 2pm crash in the middle of math class • Brain support — nutrients that feed cognitive function, focus, and mood regulation • Gut health — 70% of the immune system lives in the gut, and September is also cold season • Allergen-free — safe for every kid at the lunch table, every school in Canada • Under 10 minutes — real life, not a cooking show |
Loaded Apple Nacho Board
The snack that looks like something from a restaurant menu and contains more protein and fibre than most granola bars. Four minutes. One board. Everyone at the table reaches for it.
Apple nachos have been all over social media for a while — but most versions are just apple slices with peanut butter and chocolate chips. This version is loaded. Pumpkin seeds for magnesium and zinc. Hemp hearts for complete protein. Chia seeds for fibre and hydration. Cacao nibs for antioxidants. And a cinnamon dusting that is not just flavour — it’s a natural blood sugar stabiliser.
Mix red and green apple varieties for maximum colour contrast and photograph it from directly above before anyone touches it. It is one of the most beautiful things you will ever put on your kitchen table.
Ingredients (serves 4–6)
• 3–4 large apples (mix of red and green), cored and thinly sliced
• 3 tbsp sunflower seed butter, thinned with 1 tsp maple syrup and 1 tsp warm water
• 2 tbsp hemp hearts
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds (pepitas)
• 1 tbsp cacao nibs or mini dark chocolate chips
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
• Optional: 1 tbsp Rawcology Berry Burst Granola Probiotic Bites or Apple Cinnamon GUT TO GO probiotic snack bites scattered across the top
• Optional: drizzle of raw honey or maple syrup to finish
Instructions
1. Core and thinly slice apples — aim for ¼-inch slices. Mix red and green varieties for colour contrast.
2. Fan apple slices across a large board in overlapping layers like nacho chips. Leave no gaps — the fuller the board the better the visual.
3. Whisk sunflower seed butter, maple syrup, and warm water until smooth and pourable. Drizzle across the apples in generous thin lines — this is the ‘nacho cheese’ moment.
4. Scatter hemp hearts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and cacao nibs evenly across the board.
5. Dust with cinnamon and a small pinch of pink salt.
6. Optional: scatter Rawcology Berry Burst clusters for probiotic crunch and colour.
7. Optional: final drizzle of raw honey for a glossy finish. Photograph immediately, then serve.
|
MAKE-AHEAD + LUNCHBOX TIPS Make ahead: Slice apples up to 2 hours ahead — toss in lemon juice and store submerged in cold lemon water in the fridge Day of: Drain, pat completely dry, fan on the board, add toppings — 3 minutes Lunchbox version: Apple slices in one container, seed butter in a dip cup, toppings in a small bag. Assemble at school Batch tip: Slice apples for the whole week Sunday, store in lemon water in the fridge, drain and pat dry daily |
|
WHY THIS IS AMAZING FOR YOUR FAMILY • Pumpkin seeds are one of the richest plant sources of magnesium — essential for muscle function, nerve health, energy, and sleep. Also rich in zinc for immune function and iron for energy. Most school-age kids are chronically low in magnesium. • Hemp hearts add complete protein (all 9 amino acids) and omega-3 fatty acids scattered invisibly across the board. • Chia seeds contribute 5g of fibre per tablespoon and hold up to 10 times their weight in water, supporting hydration through a full school day. • Cacao nibs contain more antioxidants than blueberries and natural compounds that support mood and focus — the chocolate hit without refined sugar. • Apples provide quercetin (anti-inflammatory flavonoid) and pectin, a prebiotic fibre that feeds beneficial gut bacteria. • Cinnamon is a natural blood sugar stabiliser, slowing the release of natural sugars in the apple so energy stays steady rather than spiking. • Rawcology Berry Burst Granola Snack Bites add GanedenBC30 probiotic cultures — gut support scattered right across the board. |
|
APPROXIMATE NUTRITION PER SERVING Per serving (approx. ¼ of board): 195 cal • 11g fat • 22g carbs • 5g fibre • 6g protein • All natural sugars from apple and a small drizzle of honey. |
What are the best no-bake back to school snacks?
The Three Superhero Power Cookies
Pink. Green. Gold. Three colours, three superfoods, one extraordinary board. No oven. No food dye. No allergens. Lined up together these are one of the most visually striking things you can put on a lunchbox table — or a morning TV set.
Each cookie uses the same no-bake base formula — oat flour, sunflower seed butter, maple syrup, chia seeds, and coconut oil — but the superfood hero changes everything. Pink from Rawcology Strawberry Granola and beet root. Green from spirulina. Gold from turmeric and Rawcology Banana Granola.
|
THE NO-BAKE FORMULA THAT HOLDS ITS SHAPE Base for all three cookies: 1 cup oat flour + ¼ cup sunflower seed butter + 2–3 tbsp maple syrup + 1 tbsp chia seeds + 1 tbsp coconut oil. Chill dough 15–20 min before shaping. Press firmly into a round cookie cutter. Refrigerate 30 min after shaping. Holds at room temperature 4–5 hours once set. |
Cookie 1 — Pink Strawberry Power Cookie
Featuring Rawcology Strawberry Grain Free Granola + beet root powder. No oven. No food dye. Vivid pink guaranteed.
The pink colour comes from Rawcology’s Strawberry Grain Free Granola (made with organic strawberry purée and beet root powder) and extra beet root powder. No-bake is intentional — beet root pigment fades to brown in an oven, so the no-bake method is what keeps the colour vivid. The colour actually deepens in the fridge overnight.
Ingredients (makes 14–16 cookies)
• 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats, blended into flour
• ½ cup Rawcology Strawberry Grain Free Granola, blended into the oat flour
• 2 tbsp pure beet root powder
• ¼ cup sunflower seed butter
• 2–3 tbsp maple syrup
• 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp lemon juice
• Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
• 2 tbsp hemp hearts (stir in after blending)
• 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional)
Instructions
1. Blend oats and Rawcology Strawberry Grain Free Granola together 20–30 seconds until a rough pink-tinged flour forms.
2. Add beet root powder, sunflower seed butter, maple syrup, coconut oil, chia seeds, vanilla, lemon juice, and salt. Blend 30 seconds until vivid pink dough forms.
3. Transfer to a bowl. Stir in hemp hearts and chocolate chips by hand.
4. Refrigerate dough 15–20 minutes.
5. Press firmly into a round cookie cutter on a parchment-lined tray. Press hard — the compression holds the shape.
6. Refrigerate 30 minutes minimum. Overnight for best results.
7. Optional: drizzle melted dark chocolate across the board before serving.
How do you make cookies pink without food dye?
|
COLOUR + PREP NOTE Use pure single-ingredient beet root powder — no latte blends or spice mixes, which muddy the colour. The pink deepens and intensifies overnight in the fridge. Day 2 cookies are more vividly pink than day 1. |
How do no-bake cookies hold their shape?
|
MAKE-AHEAD + LUNCHBOX TIPS Make ahead: Up to 5 days in the fridge in an airtight container Freeze: Up to 3 months individually wrapped Lunchbox: Holds shape at room temperature 4–5 hours once chilled — make the night before, pack in the morning |
|
WHY THIS IS AMAZING FOR YOUR FAMILY • Beet root provides natural nitrates → nitric oxide → blood flow + brain oxygenation + sustained focus. The back-to-school brain nutrient hiding in a pink cookie. • Hemp hearts: complete protein (all 9 amino acids) + omega-3 fatty acids — invisible in every cookie. • Lemon juice protects the beet root pigment AND increases absorption of plant-based iron from hemp hearts. • No refined sugar, no gluten, no dairy, no allergens. The cookie the school lunchbox rules were made for. |

Cookie 2 — Green Hulk Power Cookie
Featuring spirulina. Vivid emerald green. The most nutrient-dense cookie on the board. Stable colour — stays as green on day 5 as day 1.
Spirulina is a blue-green algae and one of the most genuinely nutrient-dense foods available. Complete protein with all 9 essential amino acids. Iron, B12, chlorophyll, and phycocyanin — one of the most studied anti-inflammatory compounds in natural food. Half a teaspoon turns cookie dough vivid emerald green in seconds and the flavour is completely undetectable behind sunflower seed butter and maple syrup.
Ingredients (makes 14–16 cookies)
• 1½ cups gluten-free rolled oats, blended into flour
• 1½ tsp spirulina powder (start with 1 tsp, increase for deeper green)
• ¼ cup sunflower seed butter
• 2–3 tbsp maple syrup
• 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
• 2 tbsp hemp hearts (stir in after blending)
• 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds (stir in after blending)
• 2 tbsp dark chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional)
Instructions
8. Blend oats 20–30 seconds until flour forms.
9. Add spirulina, sunflower seed butter, maple syrup, coconut oil, chia seeds, vanilla, and salt. Blend 30 seconds until vivid green smooth dough forms.
10. Transfer to bowl. Stir in hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, and chocolate chips by hand.
11. Refrigerate dough 15–20 minutes.
12. Press firmly into round cookie cutter on parchment-lined tray.
13. Optional: press a few whole pumpkin seeds onto the surface of each cookie before refrigerating.
14. Refrigerate 30 minutes minimum. Overnight for firmest result.
What does spirulina taste like in cookies?
|
COLOUR + PREP NOTE Spirulina colour is completely stable — no fading, no browning, no heat sensitivity. These stay as vivid on day 5 as day 1. Start with 1 tsp for bright green, increase to 1½–2 tsp for deeper emerald. Optional: add ¼ tsp matcha alongside the spirulina for a more complex green with additional antioxidants. |
|
MAKE-AHEAD + LUNCHBOX TIPS Make ahead: Up to 5 days in the fridge — colour stays vivid the entire time Freeze: Up to 3 months individually wrapped Lunchbox: The pumpkin seeds pressed on top make these easy to identify — the green cookie with the seeds is the one kids ask for by name |
|
WHY THIS IS AMAZING FOR YOUR FAMILY • Spirulina: complete protein with all 9 amino acids + iron for energy + B12 for neurological function + phycocyanin (anti-inflammatory). More protein per gram than beef. • Pumpkin seeds: magnesium (muscle function, sleep, nerve health), zinc (immunity, healthy growth), iron. Most school-age kids are chronically low in magnesium. • Hemp hearts: second complete protein source in the same cookie. All 9 amino acids + omega-3s. • Highest protein cookie of the three at approximately 4.5g per cookie. • No refined sugar, no gluten, no dairy, no nuts. Green, powerful, completely school-safe. |
|
NUTRITION PER SERVING Per cookie: 125 cal • 8g fat • 10g carbs • 2.5g fibre • 4.5g protein • Highest protein of the three cookies. |
Cookie 3 — Golden Sunshine Power Cookie
Featuring Rawcology Banana Grain Free Granola + turmeric + black pepper. Deep golden-orange. Anti-inflammatory superfood stack. The black pepper is the talking point that surprises everyone.
Turmeric contains curcumin, one of the most researched anti-inflammatory compounds in food — but curcumin has very low bioavailability without piperine, the active compound in black pepper. A tiny pinch of black pepper increases curcumin absorption by up to 2000%. You cannot taste it. But it transforms the turmeric from a colour ingredient into a genuinely functional one. This is the fact that gets shared.
Ingredients (makes 14–16 cookies)
• 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats, blended into flour
• ½ cup Rawcology Banana Grain Free Granola, blended into the oat flour
• 1½ tsp turmeric powder
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• ¼ tsp ginger powder
• Tiny pinch of black pepper (do not skip — increases turmeric absorption by 2000%)
• ¼ cup sunflower seed butter
• 2–3 tbsp maple syrup
• 1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
• 1 tbsp chia seeds
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• Pinch of pink Himalayan salt
• 2 tbsp hemp hearts (stir in after blending)
• 2 tbsp pumpkin seeds (stir in after blending)
Instructions
15. Blend oats and Rawcology Banana Grain Free Granola together 20–30 seconds until a warm, fragrant golden flour forms.
16. Add turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, sunflower seed butter, maple syrup, coconut oil, chia seeds, vanilla, and salt. Blend 30 seconds until smooth golden dough forms.
17. Transfer to bowl. Stir in hemp hearts and pumpkin seeds by hand.
18. Refrigerate dough 15–20 minutes.
19. Press firmly into round cookie cutter on parchment-lined tray.
20. Optional: dust surface of each cookie with cinnamon before refrigerating.
21. Refrigerate 30 minutes minimum. Overnight for firmest result.
22. Important: rinse blender immediately — turmeric stains if left to dry.
|
COLOUR + PREP NOTE Turmeric colour is bold, stable, and does not fade. The Rawcology Banana Granola adds a warm golden base tone that turmeric deepens into a rich orange-gold. For deeper colour increase turmeric to 2 tsp. For lighter yellow-gold reduce to 1 tsp. Rinse blender immediately after use — turmeric stains everything it touches if left. |
|
MAKE-AHEAD + LUNCHBOX TIPS Make ahead: Up to 5 days in the fridge — colour deepens slightly over time Freeze: Up to 3 months individually wrapped Lunchbox: The cinnamon and banana aroma makes this the cookie kids reach for first. Pack alongside the pink and green for a full colour set |
|

Anti-inflammatory, joint health, immune function, cognitive protection. • Rawcology Banana Granola contains sprouted seeds for maximum nutrient bioavailability. • Cinnamon: natural blood sugar stabiliser — slows sugar release so energy stays steady through the school day. • Ginger: supports digestion and has its own anti-inflammatory properties. • Hemp hearts + pumpkin seeds: complete protein, omega-3s, magnesium, and zinc in every cookie. • The most sophisticated snickerdoodle your kids have ever had. They will never know. |

Recipe 5 — Superfood Watermelon Pizza
Pink watermelon base, whipped cottage cheese ‘sauce’, emerald spirulina swirl, rainbow fruit. The pizza your pediatrician would actually approve.
This is the recipe that generated more messages after the TV segment than anything I’ve ever made on television. The colours, the superfoods, the pizza framing — it works on every level. Three separate shareable moments in one recipe: the spirulina swirl appearing, the bee pollen scattered like glitter, and the finished pizza being sliced. Make it. Photograph it from above. Post it. Watch what happens.
Ingredients (serves 4–6)
• 1 large round watermelon slice, 1-inch thick, cut from the centre of the melon
• 1 cup full-fat cottage cheese
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup
• ¼ cup of the whipped cottage cheese (reserved for spirulina swirl)
• ½ tsp spirulina powder
• Fresh strawberries, blueberries, kiwi slices
• 2 tbsp hemp hearts
• 1 tsp pumpkin seeds
• Optional: fresh mint, edible flowers, sliced kiwi, freeze dried strawberries
Instructions
30. Cut 1-inch round from watermelon centre. Pat completely dry with paper towels — twice. Moisture makes toppings slide.
31. Blend cottage cheese with vanilla and honey 60 seconds until completely smooth. Should look like thick whipped cream.
32. Set aside ¼ cup of the whipped base. Stir spirulina into the reserved portion until vivid emerald green.
33. Spread white cottage cheese base across watermelon leaving a 1cm bare edge like a real pizza crust.
34. Drop spoonfuls of the green spirulina mix across the white base. Swirl with a toothpick or spoon back.
35. Arrange fruit toppings across the pizza. Mix colours deliberately.
36. Scatter hemp hearts across the fruit — they look exactly like sesame seeds on a real pizza.
37. Scatter bee pollen across everything. Slice like a real pizza. Serve immediately.

THE THREE SUPERFOODS EXPLAINED Whipped cottage cheese: 14g protein per half cup, low sugar, completely smooth when blended. The viral high-protein food moment for good reason. Spirulina: Complete protein (all 9 amino acids), iron, B12, chlorophyll, phycocyanin. Half a teaspoon turns the base emerald green and delivers meaningful nutrition invisibly. Pumpkin Seeds: Best immune-specific - Zinc supports immune function and helps guard against infections — and pumpkin seeds are one of the richest plant sources of zinc available |
|
MAKE-AHEAD + LUNCHBOX TIPS Make ahead: Whip cottage cheese and spirulina swirl up to 24 hours ahead — store separately in jars in the fridge Day of: Cut and dry watermelon, assemble and top just before serving — 5 minutes total Important: Watermelon releases moisture quickly at room temperature — serve immediately after assembling Lunchbox version: Build a mini version in a small round container, seal and refrigerate overnight |
|
WHY THIS IS AMAZING FOR YOUR FAMILY • Whipped cottage cheese: 14g protein per half cup, low sugar. The base that makes this genuinely high-protein. • Spirulina: complete protein, iron, B12, and phycocyanin — one of the most studied anti-inflammatory compounds. Invisible to kids, extraordinary for their bodies. • Hemp hearts: complete protein and omega-3s hiding as ‘sesame seeds’ across the pizza. • Watermelon: lycopene for cellular protection from UV damage. Perfect for kids heading back indoors after summer. • Rainbow fruit: each colour is a different phytonutrient family. The variety is the nutritional strategy. |
|
NUTRITION PER SERVING Per slice (approx. ⅛ pizza): 120 cal • 4g fat • 12g carbs • 2g fibre • 9g protein • No refined sugar. The 9g protein from whipped cottage cheese is the surprise. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find spirulina, bee pollen, and beet root powder?
All three are available at Whole Foods, Healthy Planet, most Loblaws health food sections, and Bulk Barn. Also widely available online. Always choose pure single-ingredient versions — no blends or added flavours, especially for beet root powder. A small jar of each goes a very long way.
Why are the cookies no-bake?
Beet root pigment (betalain) is heat sensitive and fades to brown in the oven — no-bake keeps the pink vivid. The spirulina and turmeric cookies could technically be baked, but no-bake gives a fudgier, more satisfying texture, eliminates oven timing stress, and makes them lunchbox-ready immediately after chilling. No-bake is the right call for all three.
Can I make these if my child has food allergies?
Yes — all five recipes are free from the top 11 allergens. Rawcology products are made in a dedicated allergen-free facility. Always check individual ingredient labels for your specific needs.
How long do these recipes keep?
Power cookies: fridge 5 days, freezer 3 months. Banana sushi rolls: refrigerate unsliced up to 4 hours, slice fresh before serving. Watermelon pizza: serve immediately after assembling (assemble components ahead up to 24 hours). All cookies and rolls hold at room temperature for 4–5 hours once chilled.
Can kids help make these?
All five are genuinely kid-friendly. The cookie rolling and pressing, the banana sushi wrapping, and the watermelon pizza topping arrangement are all perfect for kids. Let them watch the blender turn pink and green — the colour reactions alone get them invested before they’ve tasted anything.
Where can I buy Rawcology products?
